Kigali Center for Photography is organizing the first ever Kigali Photo
Festival .
Taking place this June in Kigali, Rwanda, part of
it is a workshop which is targeting for 6 photographers and 6 writers.
Kigali Photo Fest
Are you an enthusiastic photographer or writer, and interested
to take part in this workshop, here is the chance to apply;
Facilitated by Billy Kahora, Sarah Waiswa and Liz Hingley,
the workshop is to focus is on Human
Rights Cultures. We’ll be asking:
How can photography and writing
explore rights that are important to Rwandans today?
What are the creative ways in
which artists can engage with everyday issues relating to human rights through
their work?
And how can we imagine rights
that are specifically Rwandan: that extend and complicate international
structures?
Also to be explored, is a range
of specific skills relevant for photography and writing. These were identified
in conversation with Rwandan photographers and writers over the past year. Some
sessions will involve the whole group working together, most will be
specifically for writers or photographers (who will be separated into two
groups).
