From the moment she first encountered the world of art, Aida Sock felt an instinctive pull toward creation — a quiet force that would later shape her identity as one of the most intriguing voices of her generation. What began as childhood fascination with fashion and music gradually evolved into a calling: to translate her lived experience into sound, story, and perspective.

Born in Niger to Senegalese parents, Aida returned to Senegal as a toddler, where her artistic sensibilities began to take root. Her path, however, was never linear. While studying International Business in the United States, she simultaneously explored modeling and nurtured a discreet but persistent love for singing. After completing her studies, she made a pivotal decision — stepping away from the predictability of an office job to pursue music fully. That leap of faith led her to the 2016 The Voice Afrique talent competition, marking the beginning of her public artistic journey.

Aida’s craft has since taken on a distinctive shape. Her sound — a bold Afro‑fusion blend — draws from African traditional rhythms, Afro‑Pop, Soul, Rap, and Reggae, culminating in what she defines as Soulful Afro Hip‑Hop (SAHH). It is a genre that mirrors her identity: rooted yet exploratory, soulful yet unafraid to challenge convention.

This podcast episode traces Aida’s path — where she has been, what she has learned, and why she believes that artists today must embrace education as a vital tool for navigating their creative practice. Through her story, she offers a rare and compelling perspective on artistry, purpose, and the evolving landscape of African music.
