Rwandan Action Film Soon Hiting Regional Cinemas

In East Africa, Action films have seemed untapped and rarely are made. Ultimate Fighters, a spanning Rwandan film production house has embarked on a unique direction of making action films, a promising move the group has proves so far according to the few projects it has produced.

It is a story of a young man, an orphan in youthful stages who joins a gambling game so as to save close to RFW 700 million for his sister who needed a heart transplant.

Inspired through Hollywood action films, for which he credits the creativity and maturity, self-taught 20- year old Cyusa Pacifique, who serves roles as a writer, producer and director teamed up with Patrick Nizeyiimana and together with other young men embarked on venturing into action film making,

“Though not easy to make, we found it an opportunity to tap into action films, as Africans haven’t yet done so,” he explains

Their latest and upcoming project Ace Of Heart is a film written by Chris Nkwaya and Cantos Manzi is one that was shot in February, for close to two months this year, but in breaks till October, as they had a limited budget of RFW 600,000 to cater for welfare, renting some premises for the film shooting exercise and transportation of actors.

The Film;

Ace Of Heart is a 1 hour and 50 minute feature film starring Prince Ganza and other supporting actors who include Shariff Bon Ibrahim Mulwanashyaka, Sonia Isimbi, Liza Gasirabo among other actors is an original version Kinyarawanda Film, with English sub-title.

It is a story of a young man, an orphan in youthful stages who joins a gambling game so as to save close to RFW 700 million for his sister who needed a heart transplant. As he gets along, he masters the game, which captures attention of two major gangsters and also owners of gambling houses. When they both hire him, their aim is using him to make them rich, then kill him.

But the young man has not only mastered gambling, he is skilled in martial arts, which saves him through too.

The film holds really mature special video and audio effects and tricks that back up the acts, from shooting, fighting to other detailed emotional and physical setting.

Made possible by support his family, which funded it and with the cooperation of committed friends who totaled up to 50 people in number, who volunteered in various acting roles.

Cyusa affirms that shooting the film wasn’t that easy as it took them quite some time and trouble convincing people about their project, so as to shoot the film.

He also cites a problem of limited or no sponsorship, stating how it is quite harder for aspiring film makers to acquire support,

“People even advise you to first make a film to convince them of what exactly you want so as to help you. Yet I believe that it is at initial stages that young artistes more need sponsorship,” Cyusa explains.

For the few who permitted them to do the shooting availed them very little time, which also could at times affect the exercise, as it requires a relaxed and enough time for quality.

ArtsGlo has learnt how the film, which was expected in 2015 is to finally hit cinemas later this year.
