Recently nominated at the Abryanz Styles and Fashion Awards (ASFA), a Ugandan annual fashion event, dedicated towards acknowledging and awarding outstanding African fashion players . is Rwandan Fashion designer Mathew Rugamba of House of Tayo brand. The designer nominated under Fashion Designer of the Year category battles others like Suraya Da Piedade (Angola), Tiabo Bakhar (Mazambique), South Africa’s Maxhosa by Laduma and Chu Suanapha.

House of Tayo has in years emerged as one of Rwanda’s leading homemade brands with quite exceptional outfits. The designer who has together with four others came up and founded Collective Rw-Week of Fashion, one of the annual fashion events nurturing collaboration between local, regional and international fashion acts.

The ASFAs grand finale is slated to take place on December at the Kampala Serena hotel.
Emerging as Africa’s biggest red carpet event, celebrating African fashion icons, the Sixth edition of ASFAS returns under the theme, “FASHION IS POWER” , which seeks to highlight that Fashion is integral to identity but also provides different avenues and opportunities that are key to the growth of Africa’s economy by tackling unemployment.
